Can i change sides in dawnguard

Re: Dawnguard - Switching sides and Vampire Lord powers. Ok, so after some more searching, I think that the only Vampire Lord power enhancements one would miss out on from siding with the Dawnguard are 4 pieces of gear: Ring of the Erudite Ring of the Beast Amulet of Bats Amulet of The Gargoyle as well as the Bloodstone Chalice which essentially acts as a blessing shrine similar to the 9 Divines or Auriel's shrine. And of course you get Castle Volhikar instead of Fort Dawnguard. Can people who sided with the Vampires through the quest line give their opinion about those rings and amulets?

How good are they? How much do you use them? I won't miss crossbows and Ft. Dawnguard, but my last save before commiting to Dawnguard was 40 lvls ago, so I'm wondering how happy I'd be with the Vampire gear.

I usually sided with the vamps and exploited the Necromage Perk in the Restoration Tree, and that is by far the most useful thing about being a vampire. All of the items are pretty cool on their own but I never really worn them except for The Gargoyle Amulet. I've worn that one, not because I was fond of summoning gargoyles but because for some reason you could further enchant it with your own spells.

For example blood of ancients makes the vampire drain skills drain magicka, health and stamina and this carries over into the vampire lord drain ball skill. So I'm guessing from what you said you can't obtain those upgrades you mentioned if you side with the Dawnguard at any point, you have to side with the Vamps to get them?!?! Hmmm interesting. KoRiy posted Dawnguard will disown you so you'll have to be cured or be unable to finish either questline.

Halectic posted You can get normal Crossbow if your with the vampire, the special bolts and upgraded crossbows are impossible to get The same is pretty much true for the Sunfire, Stendarr's Aura, and Vampire Bane spells You can get those spell books if you join the Vampires when you get a quest from Garen called Destroy the Dawnguard or something just cast pacify and talk to florentus, the lady obsessed with dwarven stuff, you can even rent a troll from the one guy, if they are too high level for pacify try making a fortify illusion spell thats what I had to do.

And you can only get that stuff during that quest not before and not after. You can do her quests if you pacify her? No you can only get the spell books and whatever else she has for sale at the time, cant do any of the side quests for the dawnguard Capo dei Capi GT: Teflon Don Gabe.
