Which paint for wardrobe doors
Allow it to dry - this is a great time to grab some breakfast!. Remove all the drawers and use a screwdriver to take off the handles. Step 2, 8am: Whilst wearing a dust mask, lightly sand it all over to give it a rough surface, this helps the paint to adhere to the wood easier.
If your wardrobe has a varnished finish, you'll need to do a little more work to get rid of the shine, although worry about removing all the varnish. Wipe away the dust with a cloth. Step 3, 10am: Lay a dust sheet underneath your wardrobe to catch any stray paint drips. Step 4, Apply the paint in thin layers in a consistent direction, starting with the drawer fronts and the doors and shelves. Then paint the rest of your wardrobe, starting at the top and working down.
We've been in just over two years and only done the sitting room and bathroom; we're close to finishing the kitchen. My advise is to be patient. We're two years into the rewire and the big holes and channels in the walls have just become normal features. We did the lounge first so that we would have somewhere to retreat too.
We put down an expensive underlay but the absolute cheapest carpet, which we'll change after everything else is done - we've traipsed so much dust in there already!!! The theory was to start at the top and work our way down and out the front door. We had a chimney at the back of the house removed from the attic down to the ground floor. The back bedroom was then made good plaster boarded and rewired, but not decorated , the upstairs bathroom done and then the kitchen.
We'll do all the bedrooms next, then the dining room, under stairs toilet, landing, hallway and porch. Then replace the sitting room carpet. Just another idea for you, but one that some clever person did in my apartment in Rome. Before I moved in, of course They had Wall papered the doors and cupboards with thick vinyl wall paper and added the push close catches for the doors. So you just pushed the door and it popped open and pushed it closed to catch shut again.
It looked stunning! Just another thought for you I like to paint the same colour as the walls, I think it makes the room seem larger and unified. I often paint the skirting, doors and Architraves the same as the wall colour too. Very restful and not at all bland. It gives a much better back drop for your accessory colours which should come from your blinds, curtains, bed covering, cushions, chair etc.
We would advise it is completely dependant on the space and your requirements. Walk-in wardrobes look great if they are kept tidy, however a plus for having doors is that it can conceal any mess and give more protection for clothing. Another trend for walk-in wardrobes is to have smoked glass doors mixed with open elements this could also work with matt lacquered doors.
Alternatively you could choose to have open elements for items such as bags, shoes or coats things you know that are easy to keep tidy then hinged doors for other modules.
Like 1 Save. Jan Thomson 5 years ago. I did three large wardrobes that my dad had previously tried to paint with white Matt emulsion. I sanded them with a fine paper and then used Farrow and Ball primer followed by Fallow and Ball Estate Eggshell in New White applied with a gloss roller. I then replaced the metal knobs with some ceramic ones from These Please. I was so pleased with the results I bought a second hand pine dressing table and some bedside cabinets from a charity shop and painted them along with our bed.
I will try and put some pics on. And it was very therapeutic. Have fun. Like 7 Save. Penny Hawkins 4 years ago. Like 12 Save. Two things you could do, Mirrored doors with opaque stripes going diagonally, would look striking and modern.
